Waxing FAQ's
Waxing FAQ's
Q: How long does my hair need to be to get it waxed?
A: We recommend leaving your hair for at least 2 weeks post shaving which is usually approx 1cm in length.
Q: How often will I need to have a wax?
A: Ideally hair is waxed every 4-6 weeks. This allows for the growth cycle to become regular, ensuring all hairs are removed at the one time.
Q. Can I get wax done after tanning?
A. DO NOT tan in a tanning booth or sunbathe 48 hours before or after waxing. If you tan before waxing, there is an increased chance of skin irritation or abrasion, even with no visible sunburn. If you tan after waxing, there is an increased chance of sunburn of that area.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: You will experience slight discomfort at your first appointment, but it will get easier with each subsequent wax. Short term pain for long term gain!
Q. What is the difference between Bikini, G-string, Brazilian & LA/Hollywood?
A.The'Bikini' involves a simple tidy up of hair at the front and a bit down below, so that it doesn't extend beyond your knicker line – just enough to get you bikini-ready (this is the ideal wax for first-timers).A thorough tidy up of the bikini area,.
We describe a G-String wax as a “high bikini” Hair is removed to leave a thick strip of hair at the top which runs right down to your bottom. Perfect for holidays or that special occasion! Hair will also be removed from the top to take the strip down in length.
The 'Brazilian' involves a lot more hair removal – typically leaving just a 'landing strip' of hair at the front and all hair removed down below !
The 'Hollywood' or 'LA' is total hair removal, front to back.
Q: Can I get a Brazilian wax when I am pregnant?
A: Yes, you absolutely can till your 7 months pregnancy, after that check with your Dr and get the clearance certificate. We will make sure you are as comfortable as possible during this time.
Q: How can I prevent ingrown hairs?
A: The best way is to exfoliate regularly with an exfoliating mitt. You can also use a tea-tree exfoliation as this has antibacterial properties to assist in preventing ingrown hairs.

I had a terrible experience years ago with a Brazilian wax. I could not even finish it fully! I went to Beauty Destination Spa very apprehensive about trying it again and it was such a comfortable atmosphere and Gitu (the lady who did the waxing and also a co-owner) made the experience enjoyable and much less painful than any kind of waxing I've had before. They also carry the Dermalogica line, which is hard to find and an excellent choice for all skin types! Victoria Beckham herself swears by this line! I will never go to another person again for my waxing needs and I can't wait to try some of their other services as well. 100% recommended!!!
